Check all fuses / relays first. Under hood and by hood latch in cab. My trucks brake lights went out - just when I had my headlights on, not the actual brakes. Ended up being a bad connection between the cab and rear. There was a coupler that was loose causing everything but them to work. I'd say look for that as well if you don't find any blown fuses. Good luck

Looked up there and saw where they tapped the aftermarket alarm system into the brake line. Damn thing was loose causing some type of short. Squeezed it with some pliers and now everthing works.

Just had this problem, but for future search purposes, I'm going to say this:

Brake lights were out, turn signals worked fine. ABS light flashing 16 times. Searched and found the #13 fuse (blue 15 amp, 2nd column, 2nd from top) under the latch fuse box was blown. Found a loose wire in my left turn signal where the guys who installed my cap (long time ago) tapped into the brake light. Wrapped in some electrical tape and hope problem goes away. Brakes working fine now.
