I do it all the time in the winter on my '05. But use an xtra remote. Start the truck and close the door, then hit the lock on the remote... no problem.

Had a cop try to give me a ticket for an unattended vehicle a few winters ago at the stop-n-go until I pointed out it's locked. He still insisted on wanting to give me a ticket until I asked him how he could justify writing me a ticket leaning on his running and locked squad car as I pointed to the survelance camera on the building?

He and his partner just grinned and shook their heads and got in the car.

I had to cut a wire on mine to keep the "key in the ignition" chime from going off every time I get out. It was easy to find and if memory serves it was pink, coming right off of the switch.

If you have the keyless entry pad you can lock the doors from the outside w/the keys in the ignition. I just did this on my 06.

as stated before on the keypad press the 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time after closing the door. or push the rod down manually like i do. i do it all the time when letting my truck warm up in the winter.

On mine if I lock the door before I get out it will unlock right after the door closes, supposed to keep you from locking yourself out.

Why do people think other people live in a high crime area too, where I have often left my keys in my truck, with it unlocked, even at the fire station, not everywhere is theft is a major problem.

On my 05' I use a second fob to lock it at the convenience store to keep it warm and never had any problem except for some smart alec cops. Never tried the keypad except when SHE locks the doors om both vehicles with her remote and I don't have my keys on me. Usually in the evening in my robe....LOL
