Smart Unlocking ??????
On my 03 sport trac I would leave the keys in the ignition, lock it and just use the # pad outside to unlock. On my 06 f150 it has a smart unlock feature, if the keys are left in the ignition It will not lock the doors. Is there a way to disable this feature. It is driving me nuts !!!! Thanks for any help!!

I don't live in the ghetto. Why I want to leave them in the ignition doesn't matter. I was just looking for some advice on how to disable the smart unlock feature

check your manual...there is usually a way to deactivate that feature...i know there was in my 95 tacoma..it had the same feature, come to think of it i think all toyotas since about 1995 have had that feature...

if you have the keypad try pressing the two right buttons at the same time. that locks the doors

I know haha |
I always take mine out and sit them in the console. BUT when I'm in a hurry at the Firestation/ems building I leave them in the ignition and just lock it with the key pad on the outside of the truck.
:lurk:I feel this should be different for each truck though. Somebody was walking in the Foodlion parking one night when my wife drove the truck, and locked the doors for her. The problem is she didn't know the code. She did have the key but didn't realize it would open the door. |
what if you want to warm the truck up in the cold winter, but dont feel like sitting in the car. bam. lock the doors. i would personally freeze my ass off before i left the keys in the ignition to any car, but i could see where some people might find a feature like that practical.

Your an idiot, especially if you have a sliding rear window
|
how do you figure he is an idiot i do it all the time in the winter to my truck... i have two keys since i don't have a remote start or keyless entry.... i go start it and let it warm up and then i go back inside and wait... plus when i was younger i lived in a place where my father, my mother, sisters, and myself all left our keys in our cars over night and unlocked and left the doors on the house unlocked... so i know where he is coming from!!!!

you should invest in an alarm with remote start. atleast you leave it locked while the keys are in the ignition. not that it makes MUCH difference but better than not locked at all. |
