Back up lights

Hey, well first off, i pretty much know nothing about electrical, and i saw a post by someone who added backup lights under the bed of their truck. I am going to go the same to mine, but i have no idea how to wire them. I would like to have a switch on my dash so i can turn them on manually. So please explain it in dumb words so i can understand

Thank you,
JB

im doing the same thing right now and have a couple questions.

Which colour wire is the ignition wire in a 03'? And does that mean the engine has to be running or just the key in the ON position? (prefer ON position)

Thanks.

THANKS for the thread. But i don't think i need a relay, if i'm going to use the lights, then i can just leave the key in the ignition and turn it backwards. So i was thinking just going to the fuse box, and somehow added a switch so i can turn them on or off.
