I have a 2004 fx4 and when I start it up the gauges are all the way to the left and they bounce up and down until you put it in drive and start going. It just started doing this but I also noticed that it seems to struggle to start at first so I am wondering if it is just the battery. Not sure what to thinks so thanks for the help.

 

I would say get a new battery.

 

What gauges bounce? I had a tranny problem, & my speedometer would jump to around 10 mph and back to 0, hope it's not your deal

 

The temp, fuel, voltage, speedo all bounce just until you put it in drive and then its fine.

 

New battery time
