Dash thermometer issue
Dash thermometer issue
I have a 2004 F-150 Lariet and started having trouble with my in-dash therometer. It wildly fluctuates to as high as 30 degrees over the ambient air temperature. I am not sure if it is the truck software or the sensor. Any ideas? Does anyone know where the sensor is located? Anyone ever replaced one?
yep, when you open the hood, there is a support that is right in front of the radiator. on there should be the temp sensor and it has a wire running to it (i believe the wire runs into from the top but its the only thing on the support). just disconnect and replace.
I've got the same problem, it reads 50 degree's warmer than it actually is. Anyone know the part number for an 04?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have a problem too! Mine reads 50 degrees celcius all the time which is like 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Definitely not that hot up here in Canada! Should I replace the sensor? I like to know when it is below freezing outside.
Hi Guys,
About 10deg low here. Looking to replace mine as well. Without having located the sensor on my '05 to see what it looks like, I *think* the part number is YH479. If anyone knows what it looks like, just google that part number and see if it looks like a match.
Thanks!

Hello again,
Just popped my hood on my '05 and found the sensor. It's sitting here in front on me now. The part number I posted previous is NOT correct. I see this number stamped on the part.... F3VF-12A647-AA, though that turned up nada on an internet search. I was able to find what appears to be the same part under Standard Motor Products p/n TX45 and p/n TX12. I'll probably just run by the dealer and say 'give me one of these'. Should take all of 3 seconds to snap it back into place.
** edited to add....
The replacement part I received has the following part numbers on the box.... DY-1054 and 5W7Z-12A647-A. I have an accurate temperature reading again.
