Auto down no longer works on window
My window works fine, but the auto down feature suddenly stopped working.. any thoughts? I'm going to tear into the doors eventually as I have to hit the button 5 or so times on my power locks to get the doors unlocked (the locks seem to go up about 1/4 inch with each press of the button), I'm figuring some grease is needed somewhere. While I have them open, it would be nice If i had some idea of what i'm looking for to fix the auto feature on the drivers window.
Thanks!
Thanks!
As far as the auto down feature. That sounds like that you have a bad switch which is very easy to replace. Your second problem might be a little tougher. You have to remove the door panel for this. One question. Does it happen on all doors when you hit the door lock/unlock switch or is it just isolated to one door and not the other. I would guess that if it is just one door, that actuator might be bad on that particular door. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the reply. As for the door locks, its a regular cab, and it does happen on both doors.. However, the drivers door is the biggest problem. It just inches up a little bit at a time on every hit of the button.. typically around the 5th button press, it can be opened from the outside.. (so if my wife is getting in the passenger side, and my son has inadvertantly locked the drivers door, she has to hit the unlock button on the passenger door about 5 times for me to be able to open the door). Also, when I put the key in the door and unlock it, the door wont open -- I have to turn the key hard right, and while i'm HOLDING the key hard right, I have to simultaniously pull the handle. If i just turn the key, take the key out and then try and pull the handle, its still locked. All this leads me to think it just needs some grease so the mechanism slides better.. but I have no idea really.
About the windows.. I thought I found a solution this evening.. I was peruzing my owners manual while waiting for my wife in the truck, and saw in the fuse box that Relay #4 is for the "auto down" window feature... So what are the chances that replacing that relay will solve my problem??!! I really hope so.
