Expy won't crank, buzzing sound

I go to try to start the Expy, and as soon as the key goes into the ON position, a high pitched buzzing starts. It seems to be coming from somewhere in the passenger kick space.

All the lights on the dash turn on (as in a normal start up), and there is enough power to turn it on (12.3 V).

As soon as I turn the key into the START position, all the dash goes dead, the starter doesn't even crank. I don't think the starter is even clicking. But, there is still power, at least to the 12V accessory, the X50 stayed on.

I'll try to get a video of it.

TIA.

EDIT:

Just went back to check, and the dash doesn't go dead. The odometer is the one that goes dead when I try to crank. The bad thing is that in place of an odometer reading, there are just lines/hyphens. That sounds like that computer? If it matters, it rained last night.

question...the expy isn't almost out of gas is it? And if so, are you parked on a slight incline?

reason I ask is that my truck battery died overnight as well one time. It happened when I was on empty and the fuel pick-up/pump stayed on trying to keep the system primed. This drained my battery and gave me the same symptoms you are experiencing...accessories come on, etc., with the same light buzzing sound coming from under the passenger floorboards (fuel tank location).

Never had the problem again and the battery was fine after I jump started the truck and let it charge the system.

I has a little more than 3/4 of a tank. If all else fails, I'll try jump starting it when my dad gets here later today.

BTW, this is what the buzzing sounds like:

Hopefully it plays.

This was taken with the recorder in the passenger foot area.

BTW, when I say passenger foot space, I mean the 1st row passenger seat.

EDIT: Just tried connecting my data logger (also an error reader), but when I try to connect, it says "Unable to connect to PCM."

If it matters anything, when I turn the key, the outside temp stays on a couple seconds after the odometer changes to hyphens, (it said it was 56F outside, if that matters), then it too changes to hyphens.

Also, to clarify, the buzzing seems to be louder inside than out in the engine compartment.

Well, I found out what it was.

Apparently, one of the relays, more specifically the PCM relay, had burnt/melted plastic around one of the center prongs.

We went out, bought another one, put it in, and it started right up.

I'm hoping that this is just a one time deal, though I'm always worried when anything electrical burns.

I didn't notice any water around the fuse area (since apparently, my year Expy have a problem with a windshield leak), but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Thanks for any help. Now to tackle the rear end.
