is there a way to disconnect the rear window switches w/out removing the ability to put the windows down with the front switch?
my husband took the window switch off the rear door and he couldn't find a way to over ride the master switch.
the problem we're having is hitting the power windows lock on the drivers arm rest with your arm and disengaging it. the dogs in the back have stepped on the rear window button and closed their heads in the windows several times.
it's a really poor design to have the window locks switch on the arm rest with such a weak toggle switch. i can't believe kids haven't gotten their arms or head caught in the rear windows.
thank you!

the sideways "L" at the bottom of the switch is your window lock. there is a small piece of metal the "seesaws" over a pivot, either giving power to the passenger windows, or not giving power to the passenger windows (locking them out or not locking them out.) if you were to remove this piece of metal, then circuit would obviously not be able to be completed, and the passenger windows would only be operational by the master switch.
the catch: the front passenger will have to ask the driver to roll there window up or down. after a while im sure your husband will get fed up having to roll your window up and down, and rather the dogs just squish there heads. im jk!
option #2:
and one that should enable the front windows to both have power, is to just unplug the switchs from the harnesses in the rear. i dont think the truck would no whats going on since this is the exact thing they do in police cruisers. however, to make sure its not going to screw anything up, unplug both rear window switchs from the harnesses, start the truck, and see if the master switch is still able to control the rear windows. doing it this way would still allow your husband to lock out your window!
good luck, let us know what happens.

As you know, pulling the switch disabled the window, as the front switch runs through the rear switch prior to the motor.
The way to enable the windows without the rear switch in place is to jumper the wires in the connector once you remove the switch.
Left Rear Switch
Gray w/ Orange stripe wire to Yellow w/ black stripe wire
Yellow w/ light blue stripe wire to Yellow w/ Light blue stripe wire
Right Rear Switch
Yellow w/ Black stripe wire to Brown wire
Red w/ black stripe wire to brown w/ yellow stripe wire
Here you can see why just removing the switch does not work :

You can try jumpering the wires in the connector, but this might take shaving down some male spade connectors. The easy way is to use scotch lok connectors prior to the connector.
Good luck

thank you SO much for your help guys.
i'm going to print this out for my husband and i'll report back if it fixes the problem.
my female won't go near the window at all now and my husband broke a bracket on the ford chrome step bar hitting the curb last time it happened, so we've been desparate for a solution!
thanks again!
