Brake light issues

I have an intermittent brake light problem. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont (same with the hazards, but not always at the same time). The bulbs all look OK. Sometimes the third light only works and sometimes it is the only one that doesnt work. I swapped out the switch on the brake pedal and it still has the same problem. I checked the fuse and it is fine (it is common between the hazards and brake lights on my truck). The fuse is a 20amp on mine if I remember correctly, but when I searched on here everyone seems to mention 15a. This is on a 1999 F150 XLT longbed scab with the 4.6. My truck also has had the brake pressure switch on the MC serviced with the inline fuse and new switch.

Thanks
Brian

Just tried to replace the turn signal bulb up front after I gave up on the brake lights, and the new bulb didnt work. After talking to my buddy who is a ford tech he said it sounds like the multifunction switch. After some searching, it sounds more and more like it. No turn signal, no brake lights (except 3rd, which I read isnt part of the switch), phantom wipers. Ill try moving the column up and down as well since they mentioned that pinching wires.

Brian

UPDATE: Moving the column up made the turn signals work. Looks like somethings pinched

Your brake lights and the signals all go thru the mult-function switch.

Actually, it sounds like a case of the connector for the MFS in the steering wheel column is pull apart.

Remove the steering wheel column cover, and you will see the connector, look for a broken tab, and pull it apart, and check for discolored contacts.

Pull up from slack from under the dash, and after cleaning any discolored contacts, put the connector back together. Zip tie the wire so it does not pull back again.

That is what it sounds like, good luck
