wiper issues

I have a 1997 f-150 with a wiper issue, the wipers will only work on one
speed with ignition on and engine running, but when I operate the wipers
in accessory mode they function properly. I replaced the motor and the
multifunction switch and I ran a solid ground wire to the motor.
Is this a ground issue or GEM issue or the 4x4 switch going to the GEM
disrupting it somehow? I am fresh out of ideas Please help someone..

My wipers don't work right in intermitant mode about half the time. They will swipe about 2" instead of a full stoke. They work fine on medium and high. At times the wipers work fine. Often they work as described above. I spent a long time figuring things out in the electrical manual. It appears that it is a bad ground or a GEM issue. I have bought a GEM but have not had the time to install it.

It sounds like you have thought things out and have in narrowed down. To me your issue sounds like a ground backfeed. I'm not sure what you should do next. Perhaps run the ground directly to the battery.
