Odometer Reading
Odometer Reading
Ok I have a question about my 04 Ford F150! I have read on this forum somewhere about holding in the button that clears your trip odometer while cranking your engine it will give you the ability to have your speedometer readout in digital. What I would like to know is what do all of the other numbers on their mean? It has a digital tachometer readout. It shows how many volts the alternator is putting out. It show's the fuel pressure and thier's a bunch of other numbers on their that I would like to know if someone could tell me what they meant? Does that also clear the computer? I noticed that after doing that I got on the road and got my truck up too around 3,000RPM's and it kinda spit and sputtered for a couple seconds but eventually started running better. Another question I have to is the digital speedometer readout was reading 2 MPH slower than the analog speedometer does that mean my analog speedo is off? I hope I explained this enough for everyone to understand what I meant. Thanks!
no, doing the test run does not clear the computer. i'm also no expert, but the digital readout on the speedometer is most probably the true value. from everything i've read, the analog speedo is ~2.5mph off from the factory, and this, in turn is compounded by the addition of aftermarket tires... the spitting/sputtering your truck did was just a coincidence. hope this helped!
Thanks for the help! I have never experienced that sputter with my truck before that's why I think that it does somehow reset the computer or something of that nature. I wish their was some way to keep the digital readout on so that I wouldn't have to hold the button everytime I restarted my truck. The digital tach readout is reading the same as the analog tach so I guess that the digital speedometer is the correct reading. I wish their was a site that would have information showing what the other numbers meant. I'll try to write them all down later on today and post them on here maybe someone can explain to me what everything means.
Well after trying out that search button at the top of the page I found the info I was looking for about what the other numbers meant. Theirs still a couple other numbers I found on their that wasn't mentioned about on the thread though.
