My fuel gauge has been doing this 3 times now...

I fill it up, and it takes about 40 mins to get the needle to the Full mark. At first I tough it wasn't working, but noticed it was climbing so ever slowly to full.

What the heck is going on???

Anyone ever had that problem???

i have had the same problem in my 05. i fill up and it only goes to about 3/4 tank and then eventually goes to full. i would like to see some ideas on this also because i have no idea.

Mine did it radomly 3 times, but now its every time I fill it up.
But it looks accurate on the way down...

I'm surprise no one knows about this problem.

 

Went to the dealer: They weren't sure, but suspect some gas station have a High Sulfur content in their tanks which throw the gauge off. I stopped fueling at the Esso station I was always going to, and it didn't do it again...I'll keep ya posted.

I now fuel at Irving (they claim to have cleaner gas???)

 

i had that before on a Ranger and the float on the fuel pump/sending unit had a leak and was partially floating, taking forever to reach full and then sometimes it would show empty when i was half or three-quarters...had to replace it
