Keypad

Ford sells a stick on keyless entry pad for the door. It states that this jsut works like the keyfob. My question is if I were to buy a set of door handles that have the keypad do they work the same way? I was wanting to pick up a set of Mark LT handles.

someone else may be able to tell you more, but when u say "works like the keyfob", i am assuming it would be a wireless keypad, in which you only need to run a power and ground wire to it.

as for the mark LT handles, you would need to check and see if you have the wiring/harness for the keypad.

The door handle keypad is wired to the truck, and uses the keypad function of the VSM/BSM.

The stick on keypad is another RKE, that is programmed the same way as RKE fobs.

2 different keypads

Guess I won't be able to just install them and plug into pre-existing wiring then. Oh well, Thanks for the info.

Take a look at the threads in the 04 forum on this, you might have every thing you need in the truck.

My 2001 ( slightly different ) had everything needed, I just had to buy the handle and the keypad.

Take a read through the threads.

On your truck (assuming it has factory keyless entry) all you should have to do is install and plug-in. The wiring plug is in the door. You should have the code card in with your manual package. My 04 had the plug and the card but the BSM was not activated. From about 05 or 06 they should all be activated when they come from the factory.
