What exactly is the problem you need to solve? Do you mean for the engine, the ignition module?

No Spark, I guess most likely culprit is the BrainBox, The ECM.

Thanks.

It is carburated, isn't it? Carbed engines don't have a computer.

Have you checked the Duraspark box, cap, rotor, coil???

1983. I'm not totally up to speed on that vintage. Owned older and newer. I would guess the ignition module is on top of the drivers side fenderwell. It is common for the ignition module to go bad on most 1974- 1996 Ford vehicles. The coil can also go bad. I would first make sure you are getting power up to the coil, Pull connector off coil, I think you have both connections(in from ignition switch and out to distributor) in one pack hooked on the coil. The one from the ignition switch should have juice to it WITH THE SWITCH TURNED ON. ie one coil connection live and one dead, don't worry about determining which is which. Not having power to the coil is not usually the problem, but it needs to be mentioned. Most likely the coil or the ignition module is your culprit. Also check under the distributor cap to make sure the rotor is not broken. Or any other obvious bad wires on the entire system. Hopefully someone will chime in here that is totally familiar with the 1983 model, but I don't think there are many here.
Post back with any questions and I or someone else will give it our best shot.

I have the same truck, engine, and driveline, just 3 years newer.

I would recommend first checking the above items that were mentioned. That is the cheapest route for starters (it doesn't cost anything to look around).

The ignition module is usually on the drivers side fender well in the engine compartment. It has I think 3 sets of wires and large plugs coming out of it. They were known for going bad.
