06 XLT No Taillights or blinkers

Picked up my "new to me" 06 XLT today. Driving it all day and loving the truck. Now that it is night I notice that I have no taillights, no blinker and no reverse lights. When I step on the brake the brake light in the cab works but nothing else.

Checked all the fuses and all seams well there. Anyone know why this would happen? Confused. I am taking it to the dealer in the morning, but I am wondering why this would happen.

Yes...all bulbs firmly seated and ok. I even replaced one to make sure. Even the tag light dosent work. I am at a loss. I love this truck. It is Wedgwood blue that I love....hard to find. Why would a truck with 19,000k miles on it suddenly have no rear lights. I feel bad that I didnt check before I left the lot.

Considering it is both S/T/T lamps, reverse lamps, and the plate lamps, I would think the ground connection is lost.

They all use a common ground, G303 Which is in the Left Hand A-Pillar, according to the EVTM.

Quick test, use a meter or test light from the S/T/T, and check for voltage to the tailer tow adapter, which uses ground G400 which is inside the left hand frame rail up by the spare tire.

If you do not have power, using a meter and a different ground, next is to check the connectors for that list of lamps.

There are a few under the rear of the truck ( run over the hitch mount ), then the main connector is on left hand frame rail, heading towards the front. Don't confuse this with the connector for the trailer tow adapter, that is a different connector.

Give the meter / test light a try, then check for a loose connector along the left frame rail.

Good luck.

Just got back from the dealer....they couldn't have been more nicer. The salesman checked the ground in the stearing and the hitch, couldnt or didn't have the knowledge to go further. I am now driving a 07 CrownVick because the service dept isnt open on sundays. After driving nothing but trucks or minivans for years....feels like I am laying on the road to drive...don't know how people do it. I miss my "new to Me" truck already...

I will post what they find.....

Problem fixed....Dealer ran an electrical test....a code C314 came up. A rear light connection went bad. They replaced it and I now have lights. All is good.

Love having my truck back. I spent this evening installing my Sirius Stiletto 100. It is like TiVo for my satellite radio. I love the dash if this truck…loads of room behind it. I installed a 12.v behind the bezel, tapping into the 12v power port. Used the Ford direct connect kit. Clean instillation and my radio is always on to record programs when I am away from the truck. It is like TiVo for my satellite radio.

Life is good again......
