Under the driver's side dash on the firewall. I think you need to disconnect the fuse box under the hood (next to the brake booster) to get it out.
The GEM is mated to the back of the Central Junction Box ( aka fuse panel in cab of truck ).
To gain access to it, disconnect the central junction box, and pull the whole thing down. Then unbolt the GEM from the back of the CJB.
Time consuming, but not hard from the posts that other members have done on the same topic.

Doing some searching on GEM on this site I saw in one place if you were going to replace one you needed to upload/download the configuration from the old to the new.
Does this need to be done or not. If so how is that done? If not what would happen if I dont?
Thanks.

Holy crap.. I got the CJB unbolted from the mounts on the backside of the dash... But how the heck to you just slide it out of there.. ?
Just to get it going I had to pull the four big square fuses out just to get some clearance. I can get the CJB slid down about 2/3 of the way then the wiring feels pretty tight like there is not of slack. Also I have some black cylinder that is near the break pedal arm and the cable for the hood release I keep running into.
Any other thoughts how to get that whole cluster out of there?
