parking brake light

the parking brake light in the dash only comes on when I crank the motor. It doesn't light up with the other dash lights or if the parking brake is on. any ideas on my 97 F150 4.6

sounds like the circut is grounding out without the parking brake sending ground to it.

The light is SUPPOSED to come on during cranking, that's its self-test.

Check the switch on the e-brake mechanism.

i have the same problem and more on my 98
no emergency brake,check engine,abs,door ajar
none of these light up on self test or when in use,
i find it hard to beleave that all these bulbs are blown
