Urgent! Trying to locate speed sensor wire for 05 F150

Could anyone tell me the color of the speed sensor wire for an 05' F150, as well as it's location. My husband is trying to install a distance meter and cannot find the a gray and black wire that the manual is calling for.

There isn't one, per se.

Vehicle speed data is taken from the ABS sub-system and is sent to the PCM via a network message. From there, it is distributed as needed as computer data.

It is likely possible that the OSS sensor on the tranny or the rear ABS sensor can provide the needed signal. You'll probably need to consult the device manufacturer's tech support for specific requirements for the device you purchased.

Good catch. I forgot about the speed sensitive audio control.

Yes, that is where the GRAY/BLACK wire runs to (also to the wipers on early 05 models) from the PCM.

Really? wipers... that's another one to add to the useless knowledge bank in the ol' noggin! is there anything you could do with that wire, such as hook it up to an alarm to activate your wipers?
