Heater problem

I discovered today that my heater apparently isn't working. The a/c worked yesterday. I turned it over to heat today, and all it did was blow cold air. It is blowing air, just not hot air. I can tell that what's coming out of it is not as cold as the a/c. More like just using the vents. Any ideas? Thanks for the help

After I thought about it, I do seem to remember having to turn the thing several times, from hot too cold, to get it cold in the spring. Guess it was trying to tell me something then. Thanks for the reply though.

1. Have you checked to make sure that the back of the **** for the temp. control is not cracked where the shaft goes?
2. Have you checked the rheostat to ensure it is operating smoothly. If it is real loose, it may be bad.

I have checked the ****. It cracked awile ago. I tried gluing it back, but it would come back off. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to turn the shaft. So I know it's not that.

I don't know how to check the rheostat, or where it's at.
