Heated Seats

Hey everyone. I have a question. I have an '03 F-150 SuperCrew FX4 Lariet with the heated leather seats. I was wondering if there is an updated or another switch I can switch out so that I can have a low and a high setting for my heated seats. The seats get a little hot after a little bit and so I was just wondering if anyone has changed theirs before or if there is a different switch. Thanks guys.

highly doubt that a simple switch swap will give you the ability to adjust temperature of the heated seats. thats going to be something inside the heating element itself i would imagine. switches dont normally have the power to do major changes like that, except for like people swapping out window switches to gain the auto up/down features that the drivers window switch has...other than that ive never heard of one working

If you want to do a bit of non factory modification, you can wire a SPDT with the factory switch.

One side woudl be the direct connection to the heating elements, the other side first goes through a 10W resistor, and then to the heating elements.

This is what we did with heating riding gear all the time on the motorcycle, prior to the solid state controllers.
That is the other option, which might look a little better, is to get the Permanent temp controllers, and mount the **** somewhere.

Here is the SPDT switch config with the resistor:

Gerbing's Permanent mount:

Single Mounted Heat-troller :

If you wanted to get totally carried away, you could get the Dual Mounted Heat-troller and use one **** for the seat bottom, and one for the back.

Let us know which way you want to go, and we can get started.
