Before starting my 03 FX4 5.4, I noticed that the air bag light does not come on (ever). That is then followed by a series of 5 (X5) beeps/chimes then stops, only to start chiming again for the same number of times 30 minutes into the drive. I read some of the posts but really can seem to find what the best course of action is. I would love to avoid the stealership if at all possible.

 

Your code numbers may be different, but the beeps mean the same as this:



Replace the bulb first.

 

The 5 beeps, repeated at predetermined interval, is telling you:

YOUR AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT BULB IS BURNED OUT! ..... but you knew that..... replace the bulb.

 

I was actually hoping for that response and the road I went down first, but thought it would be much safer to get some input from guys with a bit (ton) more experience than I have.
