Exclamation Ignition switch removal, cant turn at all!

My ignition has been giving me problems for some time now. I stick the key in and the key wont turn w/o fiddling with it. Now I'm stuck, the key wont turn at all so I can not get it to the "run" position to remove the tumbler. Pushing on the little button at this point has no effect.

Any suggestions?

Figured it out

Figured it out. Placed a standard screw driver on it and hammered it into turning then proceeded to do stick an icepick into the pin hole. Tumbler is out and I'm on my way to the stealership.

Just FYI:

That's not the ignition switch. It's the lock cylinder. The switch is slightly further down the column.

Either way beating on it with a hammer worked.

Just got back from the stealership with the new part. No key with the new "lock cylinder", I have to program it! A bunch of bags with little parts. You think for $112.00 it would come assembled

Well, they ripped you - it should only have been ~$80. But it's not difficult to do if you follow the instructions precisely.

$80.00? not where I'm livin', would lose a lot more money if I don't go to work.
Don't worry Steve, it's all done now, no problems. Thanks for your help

With the added expense of electricity then I would have really felt ripped off
Hammer worked fine

Drilling the little pin won't work for a couple of reasons:
1) it spins
2) even without it, there's a keyed plate inside the column that the lock cylinder is captured by, except when the key is in RUN. So even without the pin, you still can't pull the cylinder out.
