I have a 97 Expedition with a compass that reads N all the time. Ive tried to reset it but it doesnt work. I have access to another 97 Expedition with a compass that works.
How hard is it to replace/switch from truck to truck?
What tools will I need?
And can it be done in a relatively short period of time?

Go to your FORD dealers parts dept and get a print out of it to see how its hooked up.The front cover should pull off and the rest of it be screwed in place along with the wires to unhook.The print out will show you how it's installed.

 

It's easy - just remove the screws that hold the console up, pull the clips loose, unplug it, & swap.

 

Hey Thanks for the help. It only the second time since I've been on this site that I actually got help.I pulled down the overhead concsole and swapped it out now its working fine. Dont ask me why I wanted it fixed I hardly ever use it but knowing it was brkoe aggravated me.
