The best battery

I was in Sears recently getting new tires put on my old car and they had a huge advert for Die Hard Platinum batteries. It explained how the new Die Hard battery was superior to the Optima spiral cell batteries. Which battery do you consider to be the best?

From the research I've done, both on the mobile electronics front, as well as heavy duty application front, a great many people have said the Odyssey batteries are among the best. They're far better than Optima, as they have a much better warranty, do not self-destruct when cycled repeatedly (in the case of the yellow top), and are constructed in a more stout fashion. I have one on the way to replace my Yellow top right now

For $90, it's hard to beat the Motorcraft/DieHard Gold, which are both made by Johnson (who also makes every version of the Optima). I chose the Ford version because there are towns with a Ford dealer, but no Sears. That makes it slightly easier to get a warranty replacement, but I've never needed one.

Of course, the fact that the Yellow top is not made to be used as a primary battery does nothing to keep some people from using it that way...and then they have the opportunity to trash talk about how the yellow top is a POS because it didn't do everything they expected it to.

We run red tops in every vehicle in our fleet, and have some that are close to 9 years old, in their third vehicle. If a battery was ever bulletproof, Red Tops are it.

$90 for a Die Hard that lasts 3-5 years, or $129 for a red top that goes twice as far...no doubt in my mind.

I have the yellow top, almost 5 years now, no complaints at all.

I got my battery from work for cost and it basically has a free replacement when it goes bad.

If i didn't get this, i would have bought a motorcraft one because my old one lasted 8 years
