Fog Light Reminder??

How can I make it so that When my Fog lights in my Grill are left on, they will make the Warning Chime to let me know my lights are still on after I turn the truck off?

I have a horrible habit of leaving my Hellas on in my Grill!

I have a 2K1 F150 Screw 4x4

Can you set a relay to give power to your switch from the ignition on.

That way it only has hot power with the ignition. Once you shut off the ignition, the fog lamp switch will no longer have a hot supply.

I guess you could also connect a relay to the parking lights so it dings.

I agree - wiring the fog switch from the ignition to trigger a relay that powers the lights is by far the best solution.

But you could wire a cheap RS 12VDC chime from the switch output (red + wire) back to the ignition output (black - wire). When the ignition is on, there won't be a ground, so the chime won't sound. When the lights are on AND the ignition is off, the chime will get power from the lights & ground thru the ignition circuits, reminding you to turn them off.

Assuming ( I know bad idea ) these are run off a relay, use the brown wire in the main headlamp switch for the switch to the coil on the relay.

This way 2 things.

1. You have to have at least your parking lamps on to have your Hella lamps on
1.1. Stops the aux lights only syndrome, as in driving around at high noon with them on.
1.2. Don't know if this is the function you want ( requirement of parking lamps to have them on ).

2. The stop light chime would give you the indication you are looking for.

If this is not the function you are looking for, a pezzo buzzer from Radio Shack wired the way Steve makes note of would also do the trick, but a bit more work ( don't know how much you are up for ).

The Lights are on a dedicated Circuit with a fuse, I did not use the relay.
