Help bell is driving me crazy

well it all started when my overdrive button/assembly all broke off the shifter.
I replaced the entire shifter arm and in the process when taking out the ignition/key section to remove the plastic housing around that area could i have broken something. Reason i ask is now with the key out, the ringing bell is constantly on now. my overdrive button doesn't switch on and off. It was never like that before.

Click the tan CV in my signature below & then look thru the Steering Column album. The chime switch slips onto the lock cylinder, and is easily bent. When you put the key in, it should lift the end of the switch, making contact. When you remove the key, the black tab should fall, turning the chime off. Yours is apparently bent, holding it up & keeping the chime on.
