Ebay Keyless Remotes

I have a 1998 F-150 4x4 XLT. I bought it at an auction and so far love it. I noticed that it did not come with a keyless remote. I assumed they lost it. I checked the to see if it had the factory keyless system by turning the key off and on 8 time. The doors locked and then unlocked and from what I understand this means that I have a factory keyless entry system.

Here is my question:
Will the Ebay "f150 remotes" as long as the description says "for 98+" work for my vehicle or should I go somewhere else to purchase this?

Spare Fob

When I bought my 97' F-150 it only had one Remote. I bought one off of E-bay[at about 1/3 the cost of Ford] I programed it just as the instruction said . It works perfectly.

Read to the bottom of the caption of this diagram:

Then use the PREV/NEXT links to read the rest of the TSB, or use the album link at the top to view all the thumbs.

Is this the way to check to see if you have Keyless entry? What is the exact way?

The directions for programming RKE fobs :

Entering programming mode will tell you if the RKE feature is installed.

This was not in the '98 & '99 owners manuals, but 2000+ it is.
Works on previous years. Watch the time between completing steps. My '01 I took 3 times to enter programming mode, to add a 3rd RKE. I really had to haul through the on-off sequence, to enter programming mode.

If you want to down load a '01 owners manual, so you can print the full size page :

Hey excellent info guys.

As for the ebay keyless remotes... they work. I bought mine for around $12 after shipping. Much better than the $45 at a dealer. Range seems to be a bit short but it could be that way with all of them for all I know. It also came with a battery already installed in the remote and worked right out of the package.

The eBay FOB's absolutely work. When I bought the truck, FOB's were missing, however the little trick with the inginition steps verified that the keyless module was in place.

Couple minutes of eBay searches and I found these guys:
http://stores.ebay.com/Car-and-Truck-Remotes

Took 3 minutes to setup 2 brand new FOBS. Instructions were included. $27.00 for 2.

Question

I seem to recall somewhere that the unit can be put into fleet mode for up to 20 keys. I know that applies to keys, wonder if that corelates to remotes as well?
