Power Window Problems - lock switch circuit shorting
Power Window Problems - lock switch circuit shorting
I have a 2001 Supercrew. The master power window switch will operate all the windows. The individual window switchs however will not operate the windows.
I replaced the master switch "twice" and all the windows could be operated with the individual power window switches. However after a few minutes they stopped working again. As before, the master switch however would operate all the windows.
I took the 2nd new master switch apart and found that the copper strip associated with the "window lock switch" that completes the power circuit was broken. It wasn't a clean break, but instead looked like it "melted" because of heat.
When I reattached the switch and tried to complete the circuit manually, it started to "snap, sparkle, and pop". I have no other electrical problems at this time.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
