FX4 Gauges in an XL???

Was wondering if anyone knew what work is involved in switching out the gauge pod electrically. I have an 06 XL and it does not come with a tac, so I am wanting to swap it out and put an FX4 gauge setup in. Does anyone know if it is just a simple plug in or will I need adapters?

There's a few posts over in the 04-07 section about this. The physical switching on the clusters is the easiest part: remove 2 panels, 8 screws and unclip two connections to get the old one out and reverse to install it. That's where easy stops and the crazy stuff starts.

First you need to have the mileage programmed into the new cluster to match your current cluster. Speedo shops should be able to do it, if you have one locally. Keep in mind the tool used to do this is about $6500 and dealers don't have them in house. Some dealers can send the clusters out, no clue what they charge. $100 - 300+

Once you get it back, you need to have the dealer program your as-built data into the new cluster. $75 - 200.

Cost me about $314 total to get the cluster (FX4 into my XLT), have the mileage corrected and have the dealer program it.
