97 F150 Backup light socket broke,HELP Please.

I just went to change a bad bulb (drivers side reverse bulb) but it wasn't the bulb . The actual socket itself had broken, the terminal inside where the bulb pushes in. I disconected it from the harness and tried to read the part number on the socket plug and mines rubbed off and I can't read it. does anyone know where to find this part or have a part number to give??Mine is the styleside... Thanks for any info!

The style doesn't matter because they all have the same plugs and bulbs (as far as I know.) Go to the Ford Dealership and tell them, they will pull up the part, and they should cover the part. My truck is an 01 w/ no warranty but they gave me a new bulb for free, and told me because it was a safety hazzard and something that doesn't normally go they would cover it. I dunno if it was just me or what but thats what they did for me. The bulbs are only 11 bucks so I doubt that the factory replacement for the socket would be that much more.

My closest dealer is 45 mins away .I didn't know they were that common. The plug socket are all the same for all 1156 bulbs, like the wire harness connection? Do they sell a universal socket or something? Thanks

most parts stores will have the socket. might have to rewire it. strip the wires and connect to the new socket. make sure to get good quality connectors.

Went down to autozone and they had a 97-03 ford bulb socket, wasn't a perfect match with the three key slots to turn lock it in the tail lens.I just had to file one down abit and matched it up till it fit and locked in . there was a plastic guide on the new socket where it plugs in on the inner edges, I had to file those out for the factory plug to push in, then it cliped right in and locked on the sides. Anyway it works just like new and done for under 9 dollars.thanks for all the advise guys!
