Cruise control problems...

My cruise control decides to work off and on lately- In the morning when I head to work, it works fine, when I leave in the evening to come home- I will try to set the cruise, the light will come on, will work for about 10 seconds, then will go off. Reset it, and the light might flash for a second, hit the set button a bunch more times and the light won't even come on. The next morning, it will work fine again. Any ideas?

Either post the truck info, or complete your profile.

If you have a 03 or older, have you had the cruise control recall done ?

There are a number of things it MIGHT be (clockspring, PCM, sensors, switches, etc), however, you'll probably have to take it to a dealer as most of the diagnostics are PCM-based and require specialized tools, training, or documentation.

Sorry, there is no easy-to-run self-test for the 04 and up models like the previous several years had.

Not like I would ever disagree with Steve, but the '04+ are that much harder to diag then 03 and older MYs.

The 04+ are throttle by wire, no more cable from the pedal t the throttle body on them. This changes how the Cruise Control works greatly.

I would have to go with the herd on this one, and say dealer time.
