Passenger Power Window Problem

I have a 1997 F150 Extended Cab (Lariat) and the passenger side window stopped working today. No warning, nothing. Driver's side window works perfectly.

Neither the passenger side or driver's side switch does anything. No sound whatsoever. The dome light does dim slightly when the either switch is depressed, but that's it. Is there a relay or fuse for each side? Any ideas are appreciated.

Was the passenger side slower than the driver side when going up. If so, I would say the window motor went out. Buy motorcraft replacement parts on this!

Here is a thread for the intermittent / dead power window motor.
Shows where to drill the door to get to the bolts for the motor.

I put in a post, from working on dad's truck and the steps I took diagnosing the problem. Might be useful in figuring out if you have a switch or motor problem.

Don't want to assume that it is the motor right out of the gate, as is could also be a problem with the driver's side switch causing this problem. Steps in the thread.

Good luck

No, I never had any problems with either window whatsoever. It just stopped working.

I have a 2001 super crew My window did the same thing , I would bang where the window motor is and it would work for a few months. After about a year I had it replaced , It cost me $220.00 . It also went down slower than the other windows. First time I took off the door panel and taped with a small hammer on the motor ,and that worked also. But it was easer to bang. When I would try to roll down the window the motor would get hot, the motor was trying to work but was stuck. That is why your lights are diming.
