I did a search and couldnt find what I needed. I had an 04 L and did this but the same doesnt apply to my other truck. It is an '03 FX4 and I just want to splice the wires so the fogs come on automatically with the park lites. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I had an '03 and somewhere on this site was instructions for this mod. I did it to my '03 and it worked great. It involves removing the switch from the dash, partially disassembling it, filing dowm some plastic, re-assemblimg it, etc....The directions had pictures, step-by-step instructions. It took me about a half hour to complete. Afterward, I could run my parking lights and fogs! I'm sure that somewhere out there are these instructions.

Actually, the '03 F-150 and the '04 L ( and '04 Heritage ) are exactly the same for main headlamp switch, and fog lamp mod.

The same mod you did on your '04 L will work on the '03 FX4.

The other option is to remove the fuse for the fog lamp switch, and tap the output of the fog lamp switch in the main headlamp switch, directly to the parking lamps, so they are always on ( this sounds like what you want to do, no switch on them ? )

If so, same process for both, so you should be a pro at it by now.

Thanks for the help guys, but actually the mod I did on my L only involved splicing a couple of the wires together. It didnt involve taking the switch apart and the fogs automatically came on with the park lites. Also, not sure if it matters, but the wire bundle in the back of the switch is different than the one shown in the link for the mod above. Also, for some reason my fogs dont work now. I spliced together the wires like I did on my L and it must have blown a fuse. WTF!! Havent tried to fix it yet. Thanks again for all the help. J.

 

If you blew a fuse, sounds like you spliced the wrong wires, quite a few have done this mod without problem.

Now that I have read a bit closer, it sounds as if you want the fogs on any time the parking lamps are on ( disable the use of your fog lamp switch ).

1. Pull Fuse # 27 from the central junction box.
2. on the main headlamp switch,, splice the yellow wire to the brown wire
2.1. This ties the parking lamps to the coil of the fog lamp relay, so any time the parking lamps are on, the fog lamp relay will be energized.

Your fog lamp icon will also be on, any time the parking lamps are on ( or at least it should ).

Is this the function you were looking for ? Don't know for sure, the L guys rarely, if ever post outside that forum, so what goes on over there I am blind to.
