I want to add a remote starter to my truck and my wife's '97 Safari van. I don't need anything too fancy, but I'd like a button for the rear glass on the van,and I'd like to keep the factory alarm functional on my '97 F-150. Please suggest name brands and models.

 

Ford makes a factory remote system you might want to look at. Otherwise go with a good name brand and you'll be fine, DEI(Viper), Code Alarm, Clifford, etc. I've owned all 3 of these brands and they've been fine, Viper was probably my favorite. If you're going to do it yourself bear in mind that there's quite a few wires to hook up (I think the last one I did had 15 or so). If you're working with coded keys you'll also need a bypass module.
