How cold? What weight oil are you running? How many miles on the 5.4?

Mine did the same thing. It is probably your oil pressure sensor, it did it to mine to It does both pressure/temperature. Go to Ford ask for a new one (they should always) have them in stock they are 20 bucks or so and Motorcraft parts. Its about a 10 min. install just make sure you have extra oil ready and that there is an oil pan ready. On mine (although 4.6) it was right underneath and readily accessible. Ford even printed me out a diagnostic and blow up of the engine to show exactly where its at.

The oil pressure sending unit is bad. It is located about 1 inch above the oil filter.
