fuse box locction?
fuse box locction?
DEQ couldn't get a connection for their computer to monitor my engine performance - they suggested checking the fuses. #1 - where's the fuse box? Do I have to unscrew a panel under the steering wheel to access? #2 - what else could it be if not the fuse?
......confused in Oregon...and wet.

I did find the fuse box on the passenger side... the manual said below the instrument panel and I figured under the steering wheel.....
1. Department of Environmental Quality - they test your vehicle for emissions prior to license renewal.
2. 2006
3. Yep, the port doesn't work according to the inspection guy. He suggested checking the fuses.

Ok. look in your owners manuel at the fuse listings.
Find the one that includes the "Data Link Connector".
It may be included with the cigarette lighter or some other fuse that dosn't affect the running of the truck, if it blows.
Another thing is to look at the pins on the connector for bing pushed back or bent and not able to connect to the inspection equipment.

I had problems figuring out the location of the fuse panel in my'06 when I got it, the description is really kind of crap.
This is the passenger side kick panel, if you have not found it already. There is a figure pull slot, that you pull out.
This is the section of manual, that might help:

The fuse you would be looking for is fuse #41, which is also the cigar lighter ( not the 12 V power port to the pass side ).
If the cigar lighter works, then the fuse is good. it is a 20A fuse.
Hope you have something covering your truck when you do this. To read the fuses, you have to lay your head on the pass side floor board, and slide around in front of it. Kind of a PITA.
The fuse panel is located under the right-hand side of the instrument
panel. Remove the trim panel and fuse box cover to access the fuses.
