Dead Battery, Keys Locked Inside!
The "through the grill" trick worked great. By the way there is also a power lead from the tow package connector. I realized this while camping and by hooking up the trailer I had enough power to use the keypad to get in. So I didn't need the grill trick after all.
Does that mean the info is no good and should be ignored ?
Did the TOU get updated and I missed it, where threads are not allowed to be added to if older than X years ?

Question?
Thanks!
Hey guys, just went through this last night with my 2014 Ford F-150. Reading through some forums, apparently the manual unlock at the door only works if the battery is completely dead. I know it sounds wrong, but too many people found that to be the case, so I assume it is true. Here's the fix used:
Using a long (10" or longer) flat screwdriver, you can manually release the first stage hood restraint through the front grill. It is not an obvious thing to see, so I took a good picture of it this morning and will post it here. Essentially, there is a lever attached to the release cable coming from the truck interior that can be moved to disengage the latch. It is actually behind the main latch assembly at the bottom, but you CAN access it (not easy to see though). You need to use the screwdriver to move the lever to the right (toward driver side) an dthe latch will disengage. Then you can get a boost from another car or portable charger to allow the door locks to open, and of course start the truck. In the attached pic, the latch is shown as #1, and the direction you have to move it is #2.
