Can't fix cruise control

I have a 04 3v 5.4L.. I took my truck in to get the spark plugs changed and get my cruise control looked at because its not working. Well they changed the plugs no problem (yea). But they can't get the cruise to work. Its all plugged in but its not getting any power (according to Ford). They have been working on it since 8:00 this morning. Now they have to keep it overnight because they have to call headquarters inorder to figure out the problem. Has anyone ever heard of this? Eversince I got the truck the cruise control hasn't work. According to there records it has had the recommended recall work. They have no idea what the problem is.. Any ideas or thoughts?

Side note: its still under warranty.

Just some comment.
What does it do if anything?
A dealer should have all the service info and electrical on it.
If the dealer tech is not to good then you have to roll with it and let them keep at it even after warrenty is over because it is a known ongoing problem that goes beyond warrenty.
Advice is not to work on it yourself and give them a chance to get out from under it. Or try another dealer. Your truck is in the dealer system so they all know what has been done unless it has been covered up some how.
Good luck.

currently the cruise does nothing. Absolutly nothing. Hit any button any speed hold them all down and it does nothing. I even went for a ride with the service guy cause he thought I might of been an idiot. So you hit the bottons and nothing happens no lights on the dash nothing. Its not even getting any electricity to it (I think thats what the service guy said).
I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or heard about it.

Well duh!!! Doesn't the dealer tech know how to use a voltmeter to make some checks and check some fuses and make some resistance tests, for a start?
I would ask that casually so you don't get them riled to much.
I always have to chase problems that way. No other way unless luck lightening strikes.
Good luck.

If the dealer can't troubleshoot a system on your vehicle, then another dealer is an option I would pursue.

Ditto... as long as they haven't charged you for it. If they're billing you by the hour and not able to diagnose the problem, shame on them. There is a specific diagnostic procedure they should be following that starts with checking fuses, proceeds to using a portable diagnostic scanner to view the inputs and outputs, and ends with repair or replacement of whatever circuit, connector, or component that has failed. It can take some time and a bit of due diligence, but the procedure shouldn't take multiple days IMHO. It's usually something pretty simple

Give them some time with it. Sometimes dealers run into tricky vehicles that seem like they should be easy but they just cant figure out right away. And you gotta cut them a lil slack. I may be a little biased as i am a Service Advisor myself. But we have to follow certain protocals and jump through certain hoops too in order to ensure that ford covers everything. THey cant just throw parts at it. We have to have a causeual part.

This being said...... IM not sayin that some dealers arent just plain idiots. I say give them a fair crack at it and if it goes nowhere then take it to another dealer. And alot of dealers will put you in a rental if they have to keep your truck for a warranty job. Ask them about that. I know we do, even tho its out of our pocket not Ford's.

My brother has an '05 and his has always done something similar. He can get his to work some of the time but not all the time. Once he turns the truck off and back on again it will work. But once it stops working, it's done!!! Until of course, you turn the truck off/on, then it works fine. The dealers he has taken it to can't seem to figure it out.
Did you ever figure out the problem????
