Question FM Radio Intermittent

The other day I started up my 2004 Lariat and could not pull in any FM station, all I could get is static. AM still worked. After work on the way home I tried the FM again and they all worked. What do you think is going on here?

if it happened just once i wouldnt worry about it. many things can interfere with radio signals. the sun may have just had an overactive day. you really never can tell. if it starts happening frequently, then you have a problem.

It could be as simple as a loose antenna wire.

I heard somewhere that the antenna is only for AM.

if you ever want to know if your antenna system is functioning properly try to tune in an AM station. If you can pull in an AM station the antenna is fine.If your antenna system has any kind of fault you WILL NOT pick up AM. You really donot "need" an antenna to pick up FM radio stations. As long as there is something stuck in the antenna hole you WILL pick up something. So in your case it is most likely the FM tuner in your radio going bad which is not uncommon in factory radios.

like i said before, if it only happened once, dont worry about. many things can interfere with radio signals. if it starts happening frequently, then you can look into getting a replacement.
