My son's 1998 Jeep Wrangler has a guage problem. I was hoping one of you may have an idea. None of the gauges including tach and speedo power up. Fuses appear to be OK and the lights including warning and seat belt lights work but no gauges
Thanks in advance

I would use a test light.

Thanks Mike
Didn't use a tester but swapped the 10 amps around but still no luck. Will keep trying. From other forums I see that ground wires are a problem on that model and it has some sort of "chip" which has been known to fail. Will keep trying but I guess as a last resort we take it to the dealer with our wallets open.

I think the guages were hooked to a BUS system in his 98. There is a plug that works itself loose somewhere along the harness under the dash. I've never worked on one so I dont know the specifics. It might have even been a recall. Check with a Jeep dealer and see. Otherwise, if you can find the plug, a wedge of cardboard in the side of it keeps it from coming loose.
