cruise control

Guys, got a 98 F150 4x4 4.6 and the cruise control just stopped working. No lights, no nothing. Just stopped working. I checked all of the fuses and they are all good. Any ideas?

I had a '95 Ford and the CC suddenly stopped working.
Turned out to be nothing with the CC itself.
It was something in the brake system.

I can't recall exactly what it was, something like a 'brake modulator' but, don't quote me.
Whatever it was, fixing it restored the CC.

On the 98, the power for the cruise module runs through the switch mounted on the master cylinder (yeah, the one that was the subject of the recent recall).

First thing to do is to check if your recall was done. If so, check the continuity of the fuse link in the add-on harness. If open, the switch itself has probably failed (shorted to case due to internal leakage). Replace both the switch and the harness.

If the fuse link is not open or if the recall was not performed, check the switch for continuity and replace it if it is open. Have the recall performed if it is needed.
