Turn signals inop, hazard ok...HELP!!!
Turn signals inop, hazard ok...HELP!!!
I've searched the forums for some help on this. I've found some good info, but nothing specific to my problem. I'm hoping someone can help me on this before I have to go to the "Dreaded Dealer Service Dept".
My turn signals are completely inop. I can hear a "click" when I push the signal handle up and down, but nothing lights up. I've checked the fuses and relays under the hood and also the fuses in the box by the drivers foot. All hazards work normally. I've cycled the hazard switch multiple times with the turn singal handle up and down just to see if anything would act differently. Turn signals still all inop. All the lamps in the turn signals work when the hazards are operated.
Is there another fuse, relay that the turn signal goes through? I'm hoping it's not the Multi-Function Switch. What else can I check/replace before I attempt to replace that Multi Switch?
When I hear that "clicking" sound as I operate the turn signal handle, where is that coming from?
I've read in some of the other posts about a small cylindrical (beer can shaped, I think the post said)relay or fuse, is that something I should be looking for? If so, where should I look?
I've got the lower dash removed from the drivers firewall to the radio. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. Not having turn signals is really bothering me.
Thanks in advance.

PS - I had a similar problem before and tracked it to the wiring harness for the trailer lights. Not the case this time. I have my Line of Fire plugged into the receptacle. All the ****ions on it still work.

All the fuse locations you said you got checked, so nothing else there.
Prior to spending the 55.00 on the MFS, if you want to try testing the switch itself, here is the chart for it.

If this tests out good, next will be to test for power coming into the MFS from the flasher in the flasher / Blower relay block.

Have I missed anything???
Is there anything else I ought to check before trying to attack the MFS? From what I can see, it's held on with 2 torx bit screws. Any advice/hints about replacing one?
SSCULLY, thanks for the reply. Where are the terminals in that the testing proceedure you posted? I apologize for what may be a dumb question, but I'm "electrically challenged". Are the they the plugs that come off the MFS?
I'm looking at my owner's manual, where is the flasher/blower relay block you're mentioning? Is it under the hood or in the cabin fuse box?
Thanks again. I never thought losing my turn signals would bother me like it does!!! Maybe a touch of OCD?? ha

Yes, those are the terminal numbers on the MFS itself.
here is a thread on the MFS:

As for locating the flasher ( which is the same for the turn signals and the 4-ways ) is under the dash. best I can tell it is to the right of the steering column, and has the blower relay it in. Here is a thread on the topic from just today:

cussing Ford engineers.....
The relay that controls the turn signals is located under the dash, just to the right of the steering wheel. In my Lariat, it was just in front of the right side pedal adjuster rail. It's in a black box. Tough to see.
So if you're turn signals decide to stop working, but the hazards still work and all the bulbs and fuses are good, chances are that relay is bad.
Hope this will help someone out.
