Can a dealership program the mileage on the cluster right there on the spot or do they have to order it from ford with the mileage pre-programmed?

I am getting a new cluster installed and on my 03 and i know they have to program PATS and that stuff but i wonder if they can do the mileage or have to have it sent to them with mileage already programmed :-/

 

When i had mine replaced, they asked for the mileage and VIN before the replacement was sent. it was then installed and was programmed with the PATS info. the old cluster was sent back as an exchange.

my buddy works at a dealer so i changed it myself in the parking lot and he did the programming. i also got it for cost. if someone wanted to buy a replacement cluster, they wouldn't sell it to them. it has to be done through the dealer.

 

cool, thats what i thought, i got a friend in waco, tx thats gonna do it for me i live in houston and since the mileage is programmed before given to the dealer ill have to leave my truck there...

My friend lives in the Woodlands. when i was living in Killeen, we would always go to Houston.

i dont know anyone at any local dealers around here - im also getting the svt cluster installed only because it goes over 100mph (im goin turbo) and i dont wanna go somewhere and have some hardcore svt guy be like "oh no that cant be done" and all this and that because i know thats bs.. ive already seen it done... even neal from this forum did it to his non svt truck
