help: Getting 12 VDC on a 2007 XL

I need to install my Ham Radio back into my new Truck 2007 F-150 XL
where is the best place to pull the power from. I can pull it directly
from the battery. But before I do that I wanted to get some other
ideas. The radio will draw up to 15 amps when transmitting.
On my 97 F-150 there was a main distribution unit on the firewall
but I dont see one on this truck. I do see what looks like
a metal box with some large connectors coming out which
is attached to the firewall. But that doesnt look like the box
I'm looking for

The best place to get power is from an Add a Fuse or a fused connection directly to the battery.

In case you have not located it, the main fuse panel is in the Pass side kick panel where the fuel inertia cut off switch is at.

The power port has a large enough fuse on it, but this would be hitting up against the limit of the circuit with the radio on it alone.

I don't know if there are any available on the newer trucks, but this technique is VERY effective & safe if you want a clean install. The hardest part will be getting the pigtails, but I'd bet you can buy something from the dealer that uses the same terminal & just swap it in. If you can find some other connector on the truck that has fuse-type terminals, look it up in these manuals & then call the dealer.
