'97 F150 4x4 won't start

the truck ran fine yesterday, now when I turn the key everything goes off and the "battery saver" relay starts clicking. I haven't put a multimeter on the battery yet, but will as soon as it's light out. The truck also has the original battery, so it's probably time for a new one. Anything else I should look at? btw, I also replaced the starter and cables last year so they should be fine.

Check the Guiness book - never heard of a battery goin that long without a swap out.
I've heard goin as far as 7 years , but almost 10? You sure it's the original?
If so - get another just like it !!

yes, it's the original... and i just tested it, and I'm getting 12.4 volts. The battery cable that goes to the starter relay is warm, so I'm thinking the starter is bad.

Check the battery voltage with a heavy load on it, such as the headlights, to make certain that the battery isn't failing under load. A voltage above 12.0 V is a sign of a battery that is still good.

However, with a warm starter motor cable, your suspicion of the starter motor is probably correct.
