'97 F150 4x4 won't start
the truck ran fine yesterday, now when I turn the key everything goes off and the "battery saver" relay starts clicking. I haven't put a multimeter on the battery yet, but will as soon as it's light out. The truck also has the original battery, so it's probably time for a new one. Anything else I should look at? btw, I also replaced the starter and cables last year so they should be fine.

Check the battery voltage with a heavy load on it, such as the headlights, to make certain that the battery isn't failing under load. A voltage above 12.0 V is a sign of a battery that is still good. However, with a warm starter motor cable, your suspicion of the starter motor is probably correct. Steve |
fixed it, ended up being a loose battery cable, thankfully.

are you gonna try to get another 10 years out of that battery??? lol
