Need help with turn signal

The turn signals on my 97 f150 stays on constant. It doesn't flash at all. I took the multi function switch apart and cleaned the green goo with electronic cleaner and a scotch brite pad. Didn't help at all. Then I bought a flasher at napa. I put it in and it didn't help. Then I noticed the little box that is right next to the flasher unit. If I tap it with something the flasher works for a second. What is this box. I tried to pull it out like the flasher but it doesn't come out. Any help would be awsome.

Does anyone know if there are two flashers on a 97 f150. The emergency flashers work fine.

Single flasher on the '99 ( the only EVTM I have access to right now ), so I woudl suspect the same for the '97 ( not that much changed, usually ).

The relay next to the flash is not for the flashers themselves. I am trying to find the post on this topic.

Looks something like this :

Found it :

The other should be the blower motor relay. Maybe a bad ground from the flasher / blower motor relay block ?

I would think both fo these go to a common ground point, but I do not have the EVTM for the '97 MY to confirm.

Thanks for the info. I thought there was two flashers because The emergency flashers work fine but when I try the turn signals they just come on and don't flash. All the bulbs are fine. maybe the flasher I bought is bad. I'll keep looking. I hate taking it to a dealer for $57.00 per hour.
Thanks,

Budman

This is usually a symptom of a bad MFS. I saw were you posted that you cleaned it, but something could still be up with it. Did you check the pins in the connector while you had it out ?
