1998 5.4L Negative Battery Cable Replacement

Greetings,
I'm in the process of replacing my cracked and green negative cable and after doing a search here, I discovered some owners attaching the new negative cables to their alternator brackets. Is this in lieu of the starter cable attachment to the frame ground?

I found various prices on the replacement cables from $35>$64 and want to research this before I pull the trigger.

What are my options Guys?
Thanks.
Charlie. (The guy that used to know what he was doing when he had an L82 to work on)

well youd still need to have a cable betwen the battery-frame and battery-block

but generally the battery-alternator is where the buisness is happening, so that is usually the first to be replaced.

And welcome to the forums

I replaced mine with an oem from the dealership. It was pricey, but had the extra leads to the body, etc, and reqired no thinking to replace. Probably worth the money.

Thanks all.
I think I'd rather do the OEM. What's the $$$?

Holy $140 bucks I laid out today. Asked the Parts Rep if that included installation which was met with a chuckle!

Damn... $140 bucks seems a lot of money, I am having problems with my truck cables, I had replaced the terminals twice already, but the cable is starting to be a little short now, I guess I will save for next week... Damn $140, that hurts
