Door Chime

I have a 98 f150 and i have been trying to find the switch that lets the truck know that the door is open with the keys in and makes that chime. After reading a few threads i have found that it is in the latch. Is there a way to bypass this switch so that i can listen to the radio with the doors open and no chime

Try this, it worked for me, and i just used speaker wire to add on for the switch, works like a charm, and took me about 15 minutes to get it done

open the door, there is no need to bypass or re wire anything, just take a key or something and close the latch with the door open, so that the door thinks its closed. this keeps the dome lights off and everything, and u can do it on all the doors, like when ur vaccuming or cleaning, just make sure before u really do close the door u open the latch otherwise youll cringe when u close the door and it goes *bang*.

Does anyone know of a permanent way of getting rid of just the buzzer? All the other ideas sound like they work good on a temporary basis, but I like to leave the keys in my truck at work and that dambn buzzing drives me insane then too. However I still want to retain the dome lights and everything else. Thanks,
-Mark

I never really minded the dinging, for 1, my radio is always max'd out so I cant hear someone yelling behind me but seriously, I never got annoyed by the dinger, I must be weird or I like electronics that annoy otheres

I wish I could turn my domes off though without flipping the latch constantly, I might do Lightningcrews mod , his looks to be the cleanest and simplest procedure I have seen yet.
